SAP NetWeaver Portal goes Mobile – The technology at a glance

The main menu features a special icon that allows users to access the enterprise portal via Blackberry. This feature can be made available automatically via the Blackberry distribution mechanism. If desired, users can log on to the portal using Single Sign On (SSO) technology.

  1. All information, portal services and applications are clearly presented to the end user in the main menu of the mobile portal. Input such as news or workflow requests is consolidated and presented in a personalized overview. Access can be controlled via standardized role assignments ("mobile roles") in the SAP NetWeaver Portal.
  2. Important news is displayed in condensed form for you on the mobile main menu. Clicking a news item displays the complete news article. News articles need only be created once from a central place in the corporate portal using the "btexx easyWCM Portal Manager". The news item is automatically displayed in optimized form for the mobile device.
  3. One particularly interesting application field is mobile workflow management. As a rule, workflow tasks are presented in the portal via what's known as the Universal Worklist (UWL). But this feature can only be used via an office PC or notebook with access to the portal. This solution now makes it possible to display the UWL in modified form on the Blackberry device. This technology results in a reduction in process turnaround times.
  4. The btexx solution naturally also allows you to take advantage of all of these features using an Apple iPhone.
  5. Yet another application field is the provision of individual applications such as project databases, product catalogs or competitor information. The unrestricted, highly flexible access method allows users to quickly obtain information from anywhere, even when pressed for time.
