Enterprise portals are changing: Until now, intranets, extranets and Web sites have functioned as platforms for communicating information or providing access to business processes.
In the age of modern Web 2.0 technologies, portals are increasingly used to promote teamwork and collaboration between employees in a company. This development joins together SAP and Microsoft technologies to form an integrated and comprehensive solution that leverages the technologies’ individual focal points.
Visitors to the DSAG Annual Congress 2010, SAP users and service providers were questioned about “Workplace 2.0” during a brainstorming activity: What ideas, initial associations or images come to mind when you think of this term?
By handing in a statement, those who participated in the survey had a chance to win an Apple iPad.
A total of 192 statements were collected and divided into six topics: Corporate communications, Teamwork, User-friendly UI, Mobile, Workplace design and Technologies 2.0. Many statements had to do with “Workplace design”: “Workplace 2.0: 4 h company office, 4 h home office”, “My information at the right time presented with priority”, “Work easy”, etc.
